CFR Călători put into operation the xSellKiosk system of selling tickets in domestic traffic, under a pilot program (Phase I) by installing an automatic ticket machine in domestic traffic in Gara de Nord from Bucharest.
The new selling tickets program - xSellKiosk - applies in phases, to allow the testing and monitoring the used equipment.
The automatic train ticket machine in domestic traffic is easy to use via a touch-screen, and it has an incorporated bank card reader (POS) for the payment of tickets. It is equipped with modules and applications, necessary to issue tickets and reserve seats, and provides a wide range of services:
- Informing the passengers on the trains’ departure and arrival hours.
- Selling tickets in domestic traffic - travel tickets are issued based on full price for children, pupils and students with seats reservation only at class coaches.
- Card payment of tickets purchased by printing the receipt related to banking transaction.
The pilot program will extend its basic functionalities by introducing tariff offers (round trip, minigrup etc...) and seats reservation for sleeping cars/berth cars. In 2010, 10 automatic train ticket machines will be installed in other CFR stations in large cities.
Phase two provides that, after the second half of 2010, the system should also have the option of paying in cash.
The xSellKiosk system of selling tickets in domestic traffic is a useful project as it provides to the customers a maximum availability of 24-hour use of 24, 7 days from 7.
Also, putting into operation the automatic train ticket machines allows CFR Călători to provide new distribution channels of travel tickets, which will be installed in the stations where the service is not always permanently assured, in way stations where tickets are sold by third parties and in malls and supermarkets, in order to facilitate the parchase of travel tickets.
