Sustainable Transport, Investment I2 \u2013 Railway Rolling Stock, and provides financing for the following investment project: \u201cModernization of 55 electric locomotives for hauling passenger trains, conversion of 20 diesel-hydraulic shunting locomotives in battery-electric locomotives and modernization of 139 passenger coaches\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The general objective of PNRR is the development of Romania by implementing essential projects, which support resilience, readiness for crisis, adaptability and growth potential, by means of major reforms and key investments, with funding from the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism. The general objective of the \u201cI2 \u2013 Rolling Stock Investment\u201d set of projects is improving passenger services, reducing waiting time in stations, implementing attractive train timetables, ensuring adequate programs and funding for the maintenance of railway rolling stock, as well as integration with other modes of transport on an urban\/regional level, with a direct and immediate impact on travel time and\/or passenger safety and comfort.<\/p>\n<p>The envisioned objectives which are to be achieved by making investments in railway rolling stock are the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improving passenger services;<\/li>\n<li>Modernizing existing rolling stock, which shall include zero greenhouse gas emissions, on the national railway network;<\/li>\n<li>Reducing adverse environmental effects;<\/li>\n<li>Safe movement of persons and goods;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The specific objective of PNRR is also correlated to the one of the mechanism, which has been detailed in the Regulation, namely to attract funding made available by the European Union, by NextGenerationEU, in order to reach reforms and investments milestones and targets.<\/p>\n<p>The general objective of the project is the modernization of 55 electric locomotives for hauling passenger trains, conversion of 20 diesel-hydraulic shunting locomotives in battery-electric locomotives and modernization of 139 passenger coaches, which will lead to an increase in mobility around the country\u2019s great social-economic centers, in service quality, as well as the provision of fast connections between the important administrative-territorial divisions of the country.<\/p>\n<p>The project\u2019s specific objectives are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increasing operational efficiency of the railway passenger services;<\/li>\n<li>Reducing pollution;<\/li>\n<li>Increase in comfort on certain routes from the public electrified railway network;<\/li>\n<li>Increase in efficiency, accessibility and digitalization of the passenger railway transport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Expected results of the project:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Travel time savings for the passengers;<\/li>\n<li>Vehicle operating costs savings, as well as for the passengers, due to modal transfer;<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance costs savings, as well as for the National Company for Passenger Railway Transport \u201cCFR C\u0103l\u0103tori\u201d-S.A.<\/li>\n<li>Decrease in the number of road accidents caused by passenger transport;<\/li>\n<li>Decrease of the greenhouse gas emissions;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The project is financed through the National Plan for Recovery and Resilience, as well as from the state budget, through the budget of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, within the amount approved yearly for this purpose, according to the public investment programs approved according to law, as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Support from the European Union \u2013 loan\/grant \u2013 590,268,000.00 lei;<\/li>\n<li>National public contribution \u2013 1,153,362,727.86 lei<\/li>\n<li>VAT amount \u2013 331,289,827.00 lei.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The \u201cModernization of 55 Electric Locomotives for Hauling Passenger Trains, Conversion of 20 Diesel-Hydraulic Shunting Locomotives in Battery-Electric Locomotives and Modernization of 139 Passenger Coaches\u201d investment project shall contribute to fulfilling the milestones and targets set by PNRR, namely signing of the contracts included in the financing contract no. 45\/13.12.2023, which was fulfilled at the end of 2023 (milestone), its objective being the modernization of the above-mentioned rolling stock, while the target for this project is represented by 55 electric locomotives for hauling passenger trains, the conversion of 20 diesel-hydraulic shunting locomotives in battery-electric locomotives, as well as the modernization of 139 passenger coaches in operation. The delivery of the rolling stock is estimated for the 2024-2026 period.<\/p>\n<p>On the 19<sup>th<\/sup> of December 2023, as beneficiary, the National Company for Passenger Railway Transport \u201cCFR C\u0103l\u0103tori\u201d-S.A. signed the following service provision contracts, included in the \u201cModernization of 55 Electric Locomotives for Hauling Passenger Trains, Conversion of 20 Diesel-Hydraulic Shunting Locomotives in Battery-Electric Locomotives and Modernization of 139 Passenger Coaches\u201d investment project, from the National Plan for Recovery and Resilience (PNRR), Pylon 1 \u2013 Transition Towards a Green Economy, Component C4 \u2013 Sustainable Transport, Investment I2 \u2013 Railway Rolling Stock.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4><strong>1. <\/strong>Modernization services for the series 7180 sleeping coaches and procurement of maintenance services \u2013 S.C.
